Was anyone shocked by the outcome of the American Idol results show last night? It was the big final show to crown the new American Idol. Kris Allen won over Adam Lambert in what I thought was a shocking result. I am no fan of Adam Lambert’s music but I did think he had a big enough following to win the American Idol crown.

I think Adam had 2 things going against him going into the final show. One is that Danny Gokey had been voted off the previous week. I think a majority of Gokey’s fans went over to Kris Allen’s side after Gokey got voted off. Which to be honest would make sense, after all Kris’s music is more like Danny’s than Adam’s and if Danny’s fans weren’t into Adams type of music they probably voted for Kris.

The other thing that may have hurt Adam is the fact that he may be gay. I know people are saying all over the web that he’s gay because of pics of him kissing guys and he may be gay. Until he comes out and says it though one shouldn’t assume that he is. But if he is gay and that is a reason someone used for not voting for him than that’s just sad.

To think in the year 2009 that you have people so homophobic that they don’t want a gay American Idol, its just a sad depressing thing to think about and shame on you if you didn’t vote for him simply because you thought he is gay.

Well last night was the big American Idol finale with Adam Lambert and Kris Allen going head to head for the American Idol crown. I don’t know if it was just me but neither one of them did anything great that I hadn’t already seen. They both did a personal favorite of their’s that they had done earlier in the season. Then they did a song chosen for them by American Idol creator Simon Fuller. Lastly they did this years coronation song co written by judge Kara Dio Guardi titled No Boundaries.

The judges seemed to like everything both Adam and Kris sang although Simon said Adam’s singing of Mad World reminded him of Phantom of the Opera and was to theatrical. Simon said Kris won round one after he sang Ain’t No Sunshine.

I don’t think Simon liked the coronation song because after Adam sang it he told him he wasn’t going to judge his performance of the song with all its hurricanes and mountain tops. To me it sounded like he was criticizing it in his own way.

If Ryan Seacrest was right when he said only 1 million votes separated Adam and Kris in the last voting then it is going to be a very close race to see who is the next American Idol.

So I am sure everyone has been hearing about the Jon and Kate Gosselin marriage troubles lately. In case you don’t know Jon and Kate are the parents of 8 kids 6 of which are sextuplets and have a show on TLC titled Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

I have only seen one or two episodes of the show, that’s really all I could take. The eight kids screaming and Kate yelling at Jon and all the confusion I found it really aggravating. Not that I am condoning Jon cheating on Kate but if he did it wouldn’t be a surprise to me after hearing the way Kate nags and yells at him.

Now I was reading this morning where Kate’s brother Kevin Kreider did an interview with Radar Online and said that the couple were having troubles months ago even before the cheating rumors surfaced. According to Kreider Kate went to Jon months ago and told him “Hey it’s over”. Then the brothers wife Jodi chimes in with “The show is not reality and has not been for a long time. It is a train wreck”.

I personally have a big problem with a family member doing something like that and talking to the media about family problems. This brother had no business what so ever opening his big mouth about his sisters marriage troubles. I wonder how much money he was paid for the interview?

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the American Idol results show last night. I had fully expected Kris Allen to be sent home and was shocked and happy when it turned out to be Danny Gokey.

When the results were read Ryan Seacrest told Kris Allen that he was going to be in the finals first. He was shocked of course and after that I knew Danny was gone unless it was going to be the biggest voter snafu in American Idol history.

Ryan Seacrest said that there was 88 million votes cast for the top 3 finalists and of that total only 1 million votes separated the top 2. He also never revealed who the top vote getter was but they never do. One would assume it was Adam Lambert but that may not be the case. It could have been Kris Allen with Adam in second.

Either way with only a 1 million vote difference which isn’t a lot when your dealing with 88 million votes, I think Kris Allen may have a shot at winning the American Idol crown. I would rather see him win that Adam Lambert. After Lambert butchered Johnny Cash’s song weeks back I really haven’t been a fan of his although he has been the best singer.

I have one question about last nights results show. What in the world did Simon Cowell mean when he said “This could be what we call the big ding-dong coming up next week.”

Last night on American Idol it was time for the Idol contestants to sing songs that the judges picked for them. They also got to sing a second song which they got to choose. I think Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen all did good with their songs but Adam did stand out as the best.

Simon Cowell picked Adam’s song and he chose One by U2, in explaining his choice he had to be a name dropper and said he called Bono personally and got permission to use the song. Adam did a great version of it and all four judges were loving it. Adam’s other song that he chose was Cryin by Aerosmith and he also was really good with it and all the judges loved it. If Paula Abdul and Kara Dioguardi don’t stop with all the see you in the finals talk that may end up hurting Adam because voters will think they have no reason to vote if hes a shoe in for the finals.

Paula Abdul got to chose Danny Gokeys song and she chose a song I had never heard of before, Dance Little Sister by Terrance Trent Darby. The artist I have heard of but not the song. He did OK with it but I don’t think he deserved all the praise the judges gave him for it. His other song that he chose was Joe Cockers You are so Beautiful and I thought he was very good with this one as did all the judges.

Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi got to chose Kris Allen’s song and it was Apologize by One Republic. I like this song and thought Kris did a great version of it. The judges liked it but had little nit-picky criticisms of it that may hurt him if the voters listen to the judges. Kris’s song choice was Heartless by Kanye West. I loved this version more than Kanye West’s but I hate Kanye West so that not really saying much but I thought Kris gave a awesome performance with it. All the judges praised his choice and Simon even said he had written him off after his first song but that now everything has changed and he is back in the game.

So it is going to be interesting on the results show tonight thats for sure. You have Adam Lambert who the judges keep saying is a lock for the finals. Will the voters hear that and stop voting for him? Then you have the battle between Danny Gokey and Kris Allen, which one of them will stay and make the finals? I think Danny has a bigger following from what I see so I think he will beat out Kris for the other spot in the finals beside Adam Lambert. I hope I am wrong because I like Kris Allen’s sound and type of music he sings more than Danny’s.
